  • Continue Campus Safety and Security Upgrades: Keeping our students safe is our top priority. If we can not provide a safe environment for our students to come and learn then we can no longer educate.
  • Continue focus on adding classes for students in impacted areas: Our students deserve to meet their goals in a reasonable amount of time if they do their due diligence. Transferring & earning Career Technical Education Credit shouldn't take a decade.
  • Fast track our district hiring process: In order to continue adding classes & providing the resources students need, we need people to teach and administrate. The recession thinned resources, we are now in a position to resupply them.
Profession:RCCD Trustee, Vice President / Deputy District Director for CA State Board of Equalization Vice Chair Diane Harkey

Nathan Miller is currently Deputy District Director for California State Board of Equalization Vice Chair Diane Harkey.  He previously served as Director of Governmental Affairs for the Building Industry Association of Riverside County (BIA).  Nathan also previously served as District Director to then 40th District Assemblyman Mike Morrell, now a State Senator.

In his first bid for elected office, Nathan was elected as Trustee for the Riverside Community College District in November 2012.  He currently serves as Secretary of the Board, Chair of the Riverside Community College District Facilities Committee and spearheads efforts to close the gap between graduation rates and college readiness. Nathan was also recently tapped to serve as a voting member on the Riverside County Committee on School District Organization.  This Committee aids in the redistricting of Riverside County At-Large K-12 School Districts to Single Member Districts in compliance with the California Voters Rights Act.

Nathan has consulted and worked for many local, State and Federal elected officials and currently retains his own Political Consulting business however, prior to working in politics he worked in several diverse fields from minor commercial acting and opening/managing new restaurants for the Cheesecake Factory to his position as Telescope Operator for the large telescope at the Griffith Observatory.

Nathan lives with his wife Heather and three children Max, Michelle and Alexander in Corona, surfs every chance he gets and loves all things outdoors.

Nathan attended California Polytechnic University, Pomona earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with completed coursework in astronomy and physics. Nathan is married to Heather, a Norco native and together they live in Corona with their three children: Max, Michelle and Alexander.  Nathan grew up in Manhattan Beach and if he has free time, you will likely find him surfing and at the beach with his family.  He and his family also enjoy camping and count Sequoia and Kings Canyon as one of their favorite places to visit.

Nathan believes that in pursuit of success in all things, there is no substitute for hard work.  His lives by the philosophy that if the ends one pursues are truly virtuous, the means by which one attains such ends must be equally virtuous. You can always succeed justly with integrity; you just might have to work longer and harder to get there the right way.

Do the right thing and have a good time doing it.

This often means working harder and never cutting corners.  If the goal is good, then doing the right thing to actualize it is the only way for the ends and means to justify one another.

As a Trustee my guiding light for votes and policy making decisions is asking myself generally will this decision allow our institution to do a better job of preparing our students for future success?  Which means taking into account which of our stzkeholders it affects, how it affects them and the costs weighed against the benefits.
